Public meetings to help ranchers and farmers impacted by drought and wildfire will be held at various Nevada locations in October. Representatives from state and federal agencies will present information on technical and financial assistance available to landowners and livestock operators.
USDA Risk Management Agency representatives will discuss insurance programs and custom agriculture solutions. Farm Service Agency will discuss emergency loans, water hauling and fence repair programs. The Natural Resources Conservation Service will discuss programs available to help with reseeding, spring developments, fencing and other practices. Information on assistance from the Nevada Department of Agriculture will be available. Participants will have an opportunity to sign up for programs at each workshop.
University of Nevada Cooperative Extension specialists Staci Emm and Randy Emm are organizing the meetings. The cost of the workshop is $10 per person which covers the cost of the meal.
