Paradise Park Community Garden: Grower Orientation Dates and Call for Volunteers

Paradise Park Community Garden

Get Involved in Gardening!

Have you ever wanted to grow your own vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit, but didn’t have the space? This garden has 44 individual ground plots, 6 raised beds (4 of which are wheel chair accessible and are reserved for invididuals with mobility impairments), and three large community garden spaces available. Participants must be 16+ years of age to participate in the program.

Now in its 15th year, the Community Garden has been a successful community partner with many local groups. A portion of the produce is donated to charity every season. The garden is a multi-generational horticulture program fully accessible to persons with disabilities. Schools, non-profits and charity groups may apply to plant and maintain one of the large plots by submitting an application and agreeing to the garden rules.

Registration begins March 1, 2012 and attending an orientation is mandatory

All orientations are held at Teglia’s Paradise Park Activity Center (2745 Elementary Dr., 356-3176). Orientation dates are:

  • Tuesday, April 10th at 12 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 26th at 12 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 12th at 10 a.m.

$10/plot or $15/2 plots (maximum 2 per family)

You will not be able to sign up for a specific plot number when you register.
Your registration will only guarantee that 1 or 2 plots will be assigned to you.
You must come to orientation, then you can get the plot number(s) you want.
Please note: failure to attend an orientation will result in losing plot(s) and fee(s).

We need volunteers to help clean the garden!

Please email Davene at if you have any suggestions or can help. We are in major transition with Davene’s retirement and the recreation staff changes. Davene is volunteering her time to get it going, but needs help! She is looking for folks to take a leadership role to help sustain the program.
