Learn the secrets of high desert gardening

The next Grow Your Own offering will be Spring 2021 (no fall session, sorry!)

University of Nevada, Reno Extension is offering sixteen “Grow Your Own, Nevada!” classes in spring and four classes in fall statewide to help Nevadans who want to get on a path to more sustainable, local, healthy living by growing and preserving more of their own food.

The workshops will provide gardeners and those interested in growing healthy foods with a “back-to-the-basics” guide to great harvests in Nevada.

Spring 2020 Class Topics

April 7th & 8th: Raised Bed Gardening
 
April 9th & 10th: Gardening in Nevada’s Soils
 
April 14th & 15th: Irrigating & Fertilizing Vegetable Gardens
 
April 16th & 17th: Native Pollinators & Beneficial Insects
 
April 21st & 22nd: Growing in a Hoop House/Shade House
 
April 23rd & 24th: Growing Herbs & Edible Flowers
 
April 28th & 29th: Backyard Livestock
 
April 30th & May 1st: Identification & Control of Vegetable Garden Insect Pests

Locations:

Classes are only held via Zoom video conference for the Spring 2020 session!

 

Fees:

In light of developments regarding COVID-19, the Grow Your Own, Nevada! spring class series will be offered for free in an online format in lieu of in-person classes.  Correspondingly, all class fees will be refunded to those that have already purchased tickets.
