GICES: Pest Alert! Invasive Beetles

Class Date and Time: June 8, 2011, noon – 1 p.m.

Class Location: Reno

Class Description: Presented by: JoAnne Skelly, UNCE Extension Educator and M.J. Cross, UNCE Certified Master Gardener. Keep your eyes out and protect your clients’ trees from exotic bark beetles such as Asian longhorn beetle, emerald ash borer, pine shoot beetle, Sirex wood wasp and others. Although many bark beetles already exist in Nevada, these exotics can still be detected early and prevented from doing widespread damage.

Funding for this invasive beetles class was provided by Nevada Division of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service in cooperation with University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the Nevada Department of Agriculture.
